I’ve been very lucky this summer in London. I went to the Olympic and Paralympic Games and got to see all the biggest stars: Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and Oscar Pistorius, and guess why Oscar Pistorius is my favorite? Because he is as amazing as the others but the cutest of all of them 3! He is also a real hero because he competed in the Olympic Games and in the Paralympic Games, just amazing! Oscar is such an inspiration. “Inspire a generation” like they say in London 2012.
Unfortunately, I was not in the stadium on that Sunday August 5th when the 100 meters took place. And Oscar didn’t run the 4X100 meters final on Saturday August 11th when I was in the stadium because unfortunately, his team was disqualified in the semi finals.
So during the Paralympics, I was not going to miss « the Blade Runner ». On September 1st, for the first time I see him running; he breaks the 200 meters World Record in 21.30 seconds but it’s only the heats. And the next day, he arrives only in second place behind the Brazilian Alan Oliveira. I cannot believe it! Then on September 5th, he breaks the World Record again for the 4 X 100 meters with his South African team in 41.78 seconds. The next day, it’s the 100 meters finale T44, and big deception, Pistorius doesn’t even get a medal, so sad. I’m so disappointed but everyone else in the stadium is pretty happy since Johnny Peacock wins and he is British; it’s a big day for the Londoners, because David Weir also wins gold in the 800 meters T54 finale, so everyone gets to sing “God save the Queen” twice in a row! These games really have ups and downs for Oscar Pistorius.
On Saturday September 8th, at the end of the night, it’s the 400 meters T44 final, Oscar’s specialty, the pressure is huge. And the tension in the stadium is at its maximum. A little bit before, I try to change seat and sneak in the front. I meet a girl that works in the pool, that I met few days ago at the bar, she’s got accreditation and I manage to go with her thanks to a nice security guy, right next to the flame, right in front of the starting line and finishing line since it’s 400 meters, I am so excited. The runners are ready, they have to wait a little more for a medal ceremony, and here we go for the most exciting seconds of the games. Oscar wins, I’m so happy it’s undescribable; I’m crying of happiness, these are my biggest emotions of the games. And Pistorius is a hero, he won the very last event of all the Games. I suggest you watch the video to live this moment again. Thank you Oscar for all these great moments!
